Sid the Kid is coming home —; and he’s bringing the Lord Stanley with him.

The captain of the Pittsburg Penguins will bring the Stanley Cup to Nova Scotia for a parade through the streets of Cole Harbour on Saturday, July 16.

The Sidney Crosby Hockey School broke the news on 桑拿会所 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Penguins beat the San Jose Sharks in six games in June to capture their fourth championship in franchise history and Crosby’s second.

Crosby also brought the cup to his Nova Scotia hometown in 2009.

On Thursday, the city of Halifax shared details on the parade, which will start from Pope John XXIII Church at 35 Colby Drive at 10:30 a.m.

It will go north on Cumberland Drive, across Cole Harbour Road onto Forest Hills Parkway, continuing north along the Parkway to the lights at Cole Harbour Place, coming to a celebratory end at Cole Harbour Place.

Spectators are welcome to line the sides of Cumberland Drive and Forest Hills Parkway to watch the procession.

City officials are warning there will be several traffic disruptions. Cumberland Drive and Forest Hills Parkway will be closed in both directions while the parade is underway. The intersection of Cole Harbour Road and Cumberland Drive will be closed as the parade proceeds by and will re-open five minutes after the rear police vehicle passes onto the Forest Hills Parkway.

Shuttles to Cole Harbour

Halifax Transit will offer free bus shuttles before and after the event:

To the event: Penhorn and Mic Mac Terminal shuttles will depart every 10 minutes from 7:50 a.m. to 10 a.m., travelling directly from the Penhorn and Mic Mac Terminals to Cole Harbour Place.

After the event: Penhorn and Mic Mac Terminal shuttles depart every 10 minutes from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., travelling directly from Cole Harbour Place to the Penhorn and Mic Mac Terminals.
